Professional LED lighting for DAF trucks.

DAF's XF, XG, XF+, CF and LF platforms built in Eindhoven share a modular electrical architecture that's particularly friendly to aftermarket fitting. The factory-routed auxiliary loom terminates at a dedicated fuse box under the passenger seat — eight spare auxiliary fuse positions on most builds, pre-rated from 5A to 20A.

The range — XG, XF, CF, LF

The **XG / XG+** is the 2022-onward flagship long-haul range, replacing the XF 106. Taller cab profile, two extra inches of headroom, and an updated 24V architecture that supports direct battery-monitoring of each auxiliary load.

The **XF** is the outgoing long-haul tractor — still in heavy use in European fleets. Simpler electrical system than the XG, but the same factory auxiliary-fuse-box location.

The **CF** covers distribution and light construction. 4×2, 6×2 chassis, widely used for municipal and waste-collection work — amber beacon territory. Roof rail is ready for DIN-pole mounting without drilling.

The **LF** is the light-duty delivery platform (7.5–19.5 t). Single battery bank, limited aftermarket spare fuse positions (only four), but sufficient for a standard beacon + work-light retrofit.

Aftermarket fuse box — the easy win

DAF's aftermarket fuse box is a standout feature. Located under the passenger seat, it holds eight spare micro-blade fuse positions, each with a dedicated positive and ground terminal. Every DAF XF and XG leaves the factory with this box pre-installed; the CF and LF have a four-position version.

For a fitter, the practical consequence: a full retrofit of amber beacon + twin work-lights + DRL + rear-marker upgrade can be wired to these spare positions without any splicing into the main harness. Typical install time drops to under 90 minutes per vehicle.

LED combination rear lamps

DAF from 2018 onward uses a standard 7-pin ISO 12098 trailer connector, which makes LED rear-lamp upgrades straightforward. Unlike Volvo or Scania, the DAF trailer ECU does not apply a per-lamp current check — a filament-to-LED swap on a DAF trailer rarely triggers a dashboard warning.

What it does check: total trailer current balance. Mixing old filament lamps on one side with new LEDs on the other produces an asymmetry the ECU flags as "trailer lamp fault". Swap lamps in pairs.

Drivetrain noise and the EMC budget

DAF's PACCAR-sourced MX engine family is quieter electrically than most peers, which leaves a little more headroom for aftermarket lighting. That doesn't mean an R10-less LED strip is safe to fit; it means that a properly-certified LED bar draws almost no scrutiny from the electronics, and the install "just works".

Customers come back from us and describe a Volvo install as "fiddly" and a DAF install as "it just fitted". That tracks our own experience.
